Instructions

  1. Wash and pit the black cherries.
  2. Combine cherries, sugar, and lemon juice in a large pot.
  3. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently until sugar dissolves.
  4. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 30-40 minutes until thickened.
  5. Stir in vanilla extract.
