A tangy and slightly sweet homemade ketchup made from unripe green tomatoes. Perfect for adding a unique twist to your dishes.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs green tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper

Instructions

  1. Combine tomatoes, onion, and vinegar in a large pot.
  2. Cook over medium heat until tomatoes soften, about 15 minutes.
  3. Blend the mixture until smooth.
  4. Return to the pot and add sugar, salt, pepper, cloves, cinnamon, and cayenne.
  5. Simmer on low heat for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Pour into sterilized jars and seal.

Notes

  • Store in the refrigerator for up to 1 month.
  • For longer storage, process jars in a water bath.
