A quick and easy recipe for tangy bread and butter pickled onions.

  • 2 large red onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Slice onions thinly and place in a clean jar.
  2. Combine vinegar, water, sugar, salt, mustard seeds, turmeric, and red pepper flakes in a saucepan.
  3. Bring mixture to a boil, then simmer for 2 minutes.
  4. Pour hot liquid over onions in the jar.
  5. Let cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.
